What we cannot help with
Senior Care Explained is an independent information site. We are not doctors, nurses, lawyers, or financial advisors, so we cannot answer questions about a person's health, diagnosis, medication, or treatment, give legal or personal financial advice, help with a Medicare or Medicaid application, or recommend a specific facility or provider.
For those questions, these are better places to start:
- Medical emergency: call 911.
- Medicare questions: Medicare.gov or 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227).
- Medicaid: your state Medicaid agency. Every state page under Costs by State links to it.
- Local help and services for older adults: the Eldercare Locator (1-800-677-1116).
- Legal or financial planning: an elder law attorney or a licensed financial professional.
